Jawahar Teaching from Mumbai

All Levels Workshop: Fri Feb 4, 5-7pm and Sat Feb 5, 5-7:30pm PT

Workshop is on zoom and recording is available for one week. $88

Jawahar studied yoga with BKS Iyengar for more than 30 years and accompanied him on many of his international workshops. He operates two yoga centres in Mumbai and gives workshops around the world.

Jawahar teaches with kindness and humour and has insight into Guruji’s mind and the evolution of his thinking because he worked so closely with him. He has profound knowledge of asana and pranayama and weaves yoga philosophy throughout the practice.

In the 2016 newsletter photo of chatushpadasana above, Jawahar is looking at both the silhouette and the profile of this four point pose. The silhouette is what Jawahar is overseeing in the students. But he said to get the full picture, we need to look at the profile of the asana. It is the profile that shows how well aligned we are in the pose. When we achieve the correct alignment, we get the full benefits of any pose.
When we move our joints, the muscles become fluid. Elbow joints for the arms, arms for the chest. If we don’t fully engage our arms, the chest will collapse. When the chest opens, we become more stable emotionally. That’s because the more the lungs expand, the less stress there is on the heart. An open chest creates a calm mind because the left and right brains are balanced.
Join Jawahar and students and teachers from across the country for this workshop!

New Year, new changes!

Dear Students,

Healthy, Happy New Year Everyone!

Hold a Credit or Receive a Refund?
If you want us to hold a credit until studio classes resume, we will – and you don’t even have to call us! If we don’t hear from you, we’ll assume you want the credit. If you prefer a refund, please let us know by email.

We are SO Grateful!
We have received over $26,000 in our fundraising appeal to date! To help the Centre stay alive and vital in our community over the next year, we hope to raise over $40,000 by the end of May.

As a registered charity, the Centre supports students who require it. In 2021, over $15,000 worth of our classes and workshops went to assisting students through our ‘pay what you can,’ approach. We received many emails, calls and cards expressing gratitude from students who relied on our classes as a lifeline through a dizzying, unreliable year. Yoga helps – no matter what life throws our way.
